Hi, I'm Davinia :)
Growing up on a farm has given me an appreciation for country life and all it encompasses. I hope my images bring back happy memories of a childhood spent on the farm, and allow you to bring a little of that rural magic into your home. This is why I started BackCountry Photography.
Born and raised in South Otago (where I am currently based), I am a self-taught rural photographer with years of practice, who started at a young age by following around my horses and the farm dogs with Mum’s camera.
I’ve graduated since then with a Diploma in Professional Photography, but still enjoy harassing the farm dogs – something which helped me win the nationwide PGG Wrightson calendar competition in 2016, with an image of my brother and his two best canine friends. After also winning the nationwide FMG rural photography competition the same year with a shot of Dad and my brother in the yards, it is fair to say the boys have become somewhat cagey now whenever the camera is about.
I love having a creative outlet, and it makes me so happy to see customers enjoying my images on their walls. I know there are a lot of options out there, and only a limited amount of space on the wall, so I feel very privileged when people choose one of my pieces.
BackCountry Photography is operated in my spare time, during the day I work in administration. Outside of work and photography, you can usually find me relaxing at home or on the family farm, studying tourism and travel, catching up with friends, working on my business, or tagging along with my partner doing a bit of hunting and fishing.
Thanks for visiting my website. Feel free to email me, I would love to hear from you: firstname.lastname@example.org
